What a week. Last weekend I had a shopping event in Columbus GA and was noticeably tired. My trusty assistant and baby girl "J" was an enormous help to me when we returned home. I thought I might be coming down with something so I told "J" I needed to rest. Well, it was a little more serious than needing a short respite. I HAD THE FLU! and it knocked me on my butt. I thought to myself, I do not have time for this. Well, it did not matter if I had time or not. I folded hard. I mean the whole nine yards ( I won't share the details). I know there are times when we need to be superheroes to the ones we really care about and want things just so...but it is imperative that we allow our bodies and minds to reestablish and restore. We got to know when to fold.
What I like most about blogging is that I can share what I am most passionate about with my followers. Well, I am doing something a little different. I came across an article posted on Yahoo! SHINE about a dad that I absolutely loved and I know you will too. Be sure to share.
I love this dude : - )

I love socializing with friends and family during the holidays. Today I hosted a Fab Mom Shopping Party at my home for ladies only. We had a blast. We spent time socializing, eating and shopping. There were no complaints, disputes (kids : -) or issues. It was mommy time! We empowered one another by simple conversation, laughter, and friendship. The food and desserts were out of this world and the Poinsettia Punch was quite festive : - )) Take time to enjoy this time with friends and family. Don't forget the punch ! Check out a few photos of the event in the News and Events section of my website http://www.fabmom.net
For some reason I awoke this morning feeling anxious and uneasy. This was surprising since I usually wake up without incident and prepare for my day. "What is the matter with me?" I realized that I have been doing too much over the past few weeks and felt overwhelmed with trying to complete every single project on a schedule when there wasn't a schedule. I had to chillax. After getting "J" off to school I got back into bed and watched TV. It has been awhile since I had time to do this. Today, I made time. Man, that felt good.
Check out the great reads below.
Compassion at it's best!
Like me, I am sure many of you can relate to the having a child in college and one in diapers or elementary school.
What would we do without our handbags?
Please allow me this time to thank all of you for sending words of encouragement while I mourned the lost of my best friend Donna. Donna was not just a great friend but a great mom.
What was so amazing to me was that I have never met many of you. We have only communicated via mommy and parenting blogs. You shared stories of your losses and how you were able to cope. This meant more to me than you will ever know. You words of encouragement have helped me on my path to acceptance. We are comrades indeed.
The future launch of the Fab Mom clothing line will be instrumental in donating to organizations like the Pancreatic Cancer Foundation and other groups that support moms around th
The last 3 months have been a whirlwind. Kids out of school for the summer. Do I need to say more! : - ) "J" is high maintenance folks and thinks she needs to be busy every minute of the day. With that said I had to put on my Fab Mom gear tis summer and get moving. Karate, beach activities, tennis, festivals, pool activities and the list goes on...... Many of you will appreciate why mommies need mommytime : - ). Some of us feel guilty about wanting to spend time by ourselves. DO NOT FEEL GUILTY. I REPEAT! DO NOT FEEL GUILTY.
Turns out that some of the things you think are self-indulgent are actually good
for you (and your kids too):
Parenting Magazine Says:
Leaving Your Child at Home
"Getting a babysitter, even if it's just to run errands, helps me regroup, and it gets my kids used to being around other people," says Jill Lewis, a mom of three, ages 5, 3, and 1, in New York City. "They also learn things that they wouldn't from me. Two of our regular sitters are budding artists -- I could never dream up the projects they do with my five-year-old."
Don't feel bad about having a sitter come in for a few hours, even if it's only so you can buy lettuce in peace. It's better for everybody, really. "Many moms might not think to leave their child unless it's for an evening out. But having someone sit while you get things done on occasion is amazingly
therapeutic," says Peggy Alvarado, a mom of two in Manalapan, New Jersey, and a parent coach who helps new moms and dads adjust to life with kids. "Because so
many child-related tasks seem never-ending, the sense of accomplishment can really keep your stamina up, and your child would surely rather be doing something
other than all those errands."
Getting a Life
Seeing friends is more than just fun -- it may keep your mind sharp, according to a University of Michigan study. "I used to feel extreme guilt about meeting up with friends after being
at work all day," says Renée Amellio, a mother of two in Allenhurst, New Jersey. "But I realized that the only way to keep my sanity given my hectic schedule was
to think of myself a little bit and have some fun -- and that my kids wouldn't love me any less for it."
